On Monday, 25 May 2026, the Belt and Road Thailand Legal and Business Service Center, in collaboration with the CTAB Attorneys Association, the Beijing Belt and Road Legal and Commercial Service Center, and the Thailand Arbitration Center (THAC), jointly organized a seminar entitled “Commercial Dispute Resolution for Chinese-Invested Enterprises in Thailand.” The seminar was held at the Thailand Arbitration Center, located in the Thailand Institute of Justice Building in Bangkok, Thailand, and was conducted in a hybrid format, both onsite and online via Tencent Meeting.

The seminar aimed to support Chinese-invested enterprises operating in Thailand in gaining a deeper understanding of Thailand’s commercial dispute resolution mechanisms. As cooperation between Thailand and China continues to expand in areas such as investment, factory establishment, infrastructure development, and the digital economy, the risk of commercial disputes has also increased accordingly. As a result, enterprises have a growing need for legal risk prevention and dispute resolution mechanisms.

The seminar was honored to have Dr. Wang Li, Global Partner of DeHeng Law Offices and Director of the Beijing Belt and Road Legal and Commercial Service Center, deliver the opening remarks online. The opening ceremony was also attended by Mr. Pongthep Thepkanjana, former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice of Thailand; Mr. Narong Sakidkwa, President of the CTAB Attorneys Association; representatives of the Beijing Lawyers Association; representatives of the Thailand Arbitration Center (THAC); representatives of the Beijing Arbitration Commission; and representatives of the Wuhan Arbitration Commission. The seminar was jointly moderated by Dr. Hua Xiaoyi and Mr. Peter Setthapong.

One of the key highlights of the event was the launch by Dr. Jia Hui of the “2026 Legal Guide on Commercial Dispute Resolution for Chinese-Invested Enterprises in Thailand.” The guide is intended to provide Chinese-invested enterprises with a fundamental reference on Thailand’s legal system, contract management, and the prevention and control of commercial dispute risks.

The seminar focused on three major dispute resolution mechanisms: arbitration, court litigation, and mediation. In the session on the “Thai Commercial Arbitration System,” representatives of the Thailand Arbitration Center (THAC) served as the main speakers, with representatives of the Beijing Arbitration Commission and Mr. Chi Renxin, a lawyer from Ashurst, participating in the discussion. The speakers exchanged views on common practical issues arising in international commercial arbitration.

In the session on “Thai Civil Litigation Procedures and Practical Issues,” the main speaker was Flight Sergeant Ronnachai Netamporn. Representatives of DeHeng Law Offices and Mr. Phanchana Kanphong, Vice President of the CTAB Attorneys Association, also shared practical insights on litigation procedures, evidence preparation, and key considerations for foreign enterprises conducting litigation in Thailand.
